March to the Arch/Church Parade - DELAYED

Don’t head home too early and miss this fun tradition! The marching is easy (I swear!). We start on the parade square, and the Cadets line the route for us to the Memorial Arch. Once there, there is a brief Church Parade and memorial for the Fallen, and then we march back to the parade square for the traditional College cheer among us Ex-Cadets and the Cadet Wing.

March to the Arch/Church Parade: Schedule

Sixes

What's the deal with Sixes?

You've probably noticed that Ex-Cadets marching to the Arch generally (but not all!) wear Sixes. But did you notice that Ex-Cadet Sixes are not the same as the Sixes we were issued (and many of us still have) when we were in school?

Ex-Cadet Sixes

They're different?

Ex-Cadet Sixes are a blue blazer with the Ex-Cadet crest on the left front, an Ex-Cadet tie, a blue or white oxford shirt, and grey dress pants.

They're different from College Sixes because of the crest. College Sixes have the RMC Crest on the front of the jacket.

Some people wear medals with their Sixes, most don't for this parade. But they're your medals, it's your choice.

There's no headdress. Only the Old Brigade wears a black beret with the College cap badge. We'll enter the Old Brigade fifty years after we joined the Colleges - 2042 and 2043.

Getting Sixes

How do I get them?

Everything you need is available through the RMC Club. Order a crest and a tie, and, if you want, some buttons. Get yourself a blue blazer and take it all to a tailor to get it sewn on and buttons changed over.

Watch for a sale at the Bay for the rest and you're all set!

March to the Arch/Church Parade: News

What if I don't want Sixes?

Hey, I'm no stickler for these kind of rules. I encourage everyone to play along, because I honestly believe that's what makes the whole thing fun. But by far the most important thing is that Ex-Cadet Weekend be right for you. And I think it's better for all of us to March to the Arch in whatever outfit makes us most comfortable. At it's core, this parade is about honouring those Ex-Cadets who have fallen in service to our country. I doubt they really care what we're wearing.

March to the Arch/Church Parade: Text

Should I be in the Club to do the March?

The "RMC Club," the "Ex-Cadet Club," the "Royal Military Colleges of Canada Alumni Association Inc." or whatever we want to call it is the official alumni association for graduates from the military colleges of Canada. However, if you attended RMC in Kingston, Royal Roads or CMR in St. Jean, you are an Ex-Cadet. As an Ex-Cadet, this weekend is for you to reconnect to your alma mater, catch up with old friends and classmates, and show your pride.

You do not need to be in the Club to participate in any of the events, including the March to the Arch, on Ex-Cadet Weekend.

So, come. Participate. Enjoy.
